Nicola Gragert studied law at the University of Hamburg. She started her legal career in 1996 at Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch (today: Gleiss Lutz) in Stuttgart before joining Walter Behrens & Partner (today: Behrens & Partner) and returning to Hamburg in 1998. She has been a specialist in labour law since 1999. From 2000 Nicola Gragert acted in a supervisory capacity for the labour law department at KPMG Treuhand & Goerdeler GmbH Steuerberatungsgesellschaft Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft, and later Beiten Burkhardt Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH at their Hamburg office.
In 2004 Nicola Gragert founded her own labour law firm, which continued as Gragert Stamer law firm from 2007, and later as Gragert Stamer Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB. Nicola Gragert and Andreas Himmelmann combined their professional activities in 2020 with the founding of Gragert Himmelmann Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater Partnerschaft mbB.
As a specialist in labour law Nicola Gragert has consulted and represented companies on all questions of labour law as well as those pertaining to the related subject of social insurance law. Nicola Gragert's main activities centre around the collective legal areas of industrial constitution law, corporate co-determination and restructuring. Furthermore, she has accompanied transactions relating to company law in the area of labour law. She has supported clients on individual labour law questions to find the optimal structures for employment contracts, models of payment and working time, as well as accompanying the process of redundancies and the conclusion of termination agreements. Her clients are able to benefit from her long-term forensic experience, reputation and specialist knowledge. Nicola Gragert has represented clients throughout Germany at labour law courts at local, regional and federal level, and conflicts involving board members and management at ordinary courts of jurisdiction.
Nicola Gragert organises and conducts seminars for management and staff. She regularly writes for specialist publications, and is author and reviewer of specialist books. She is also active in both law seminars and training for specialist lawyers as an expert advisor.
Nicola Gragert is one of the leading lawyers for labour law in Germany. She was listed as being 'TOP lawyer' 2019 by Wirtschaftswoche magazine and was also listed by Who's Who Legal Germany as being a 'Top expert'. She is a member of the working group for labour law at the Association of German lawyers, of the German Labour Court Association, and the specialist lawyers' forum for labour law ffa fachanwalt forum arbeitsrecht.
